Why did you decide to pursue the CCMP?

In 2020 I was earmarked for a three year Change Management project. At the time the firm had its own methodology which aligned best with the standard. I was given the opportunity to become certified via Prosci , but I never connected with the approach when compared with the standard. I knew that I wanted to become a CCMP, however between work demands and. some procrastination it took me longer than anticipated.

How did you prepare for the CCMP?

I read the standard several times, however outside of what I knew already, I had a challenge with memorizing the inputs and outputs which was a lot for my aging brain. I had bought the Ready, Set CCMP guide, though helpful it lacked what I really needed. Due to the demands of work and procrastination I was faced with “you have to schedule the exam now.” When I set the date which I did two weeks before the exam and three days before my CCMP exam application would expire, I knew I had to get serious I only had one shot. I practiced MCQs but I wanted more until four days before my exam I came across the Change Management Study Hall which was a game changer. I realized after doing their sample mcqs that my current medium was not sufficient to get me across the finish line. I made the decision then to pay for the mcqs and the study aids which helped me reinforced the body of knowledge. Similar to the PMP exam, I practiced doing the MCQs and reviewed not only my correct answers but what I got wrong. I did the MCQs which were about 500 questions at least 3 times while doing some of the exercises that were provided. I knew if I had more time with the content I would have scored higher, however I am grateful for Anne and her resources.

I have not seen the benefits as yet from a professional standpoint. But I believe from a marketability standpoint it will make my presence better taking into account that not a lot of people have the certification globally. Personally, it is a milestone achievement and I am grateful to God with support of my family and close friends.

Why did you decide to pursue the CCMP?

After several successful years leading clients through various changes associated with workplace moves and changes, and to continue my Change Management leadership at Gensler in the Southeast region, as well as enhance my understanding of how design impacts people, I decided to pursue a certification in change management with ACMP.

As a project manager and planner, I set a 10-week study schedule to read and review the ACMP Standard. In the two weeks before my scheduled exam, I used online resources to practice answering questions that would simulate the exam.

It's given me a new appreciation for what it takes to lead change initiatives by giving me a new perspective on how to approach programs and projects. The most successful initiatives I've led have been from a change first perspective, and the knowledge and skills I've gained in pursing the CCMP have helped me as a leader.

Why did you decide to pursue the CCMP?

I have been leading public sector teams and progressing in my career, eventually becoming the Chief Administrative Officer of my municipality. Public sector organizations are frequently subject to change with each election cycle. Gaining my change management practitioner certification seemed to be a good fit for my job given that the people aspect of change is what I need to excel at to succeed. I already have a program management professional designation so the CCMP credential nicely complements my previous credentials.

I completed a change management course first. Then I went through the process of preparing an application and writing the essays. Once I was cleared to write the exam, I had to prepare for it. It was difficult due to the demands of work and life. I found some good resources to study. For example, the ACMP Standard is on Spotify and I played that over and over again on my way to work for two weeks.

It's early days. However, I hope this credential helps me be more successful as a leader. I also think my resume would look more attractive.

I have been a part of leading and managing the people side of change in my HR career. After obtaining my change management certificate, I decided to pursue the designation for the following reasons;

- industry recognition and credibility - CCMP is globally recognized and provides a validated level of experience in change delivery. I know organizations value professionals with proven methodologies for driving change successfully.

- standardized framework - seeing that the certification is based the ACMP's standard of change management, which aligns with industry best practices - this provides a structured approach to implementing change initiatives to achieve organizational goals.

-competitive advantage - I know for a certain that having the designation will help set me apart when considered alongside candidates without the formal training or experience in change management.

-demonstrated change leadership - while you do not learn how to lead change just by getting certified, a CCMP shows that the individual not only understands change management but has the basic skills to execute successfully if applied right.

How did you prepare for the CCMP?

That's the tricky part - because the exam is based on the Standard which is a document of less than 60pages. But before the exam itself, you have to meet the prerequisites of education, experience and training. When all that is combined with the exam itself - a candidate applying to obtain the CCMP designation has had first hand experience in change management to a certain degree. For me - I have the education and experience then I spent time reading through the standard for a two-week period at least one hour daily to understand the five process groups and breakdown the inputs and outputs into my lived experience. I found it very applicable in change initiatives I have led or managed in my career and this helped me a great deal in acing the exam. Really everything in the exam is found in the Standard, I did not have to consult any additional resource.

As a professional, II have been practicing change management long before. Earning a CCMP further validates me interest, expertise and depth of knowledge of change management whether it be incremental or transformative. As a proponent of learning by doing - I know that the knowledge I have gained through my preparation for the exam will continue to to help me in driving business efficiency wherever I find myself.

For years, I have been a member of the ACMP and have benefited greatly from their resources, including webinars, conferences, and online communities. Becoming CCMP Certified has always been a professional goal. How did you prepare for the CCMP?

To prepare for the CCMP, I began by completing a recognized training program and then dedicated months to writing and refining my essays. Reflecting on my years of experience in change management was a thought-provoking exercise that helped me see how my practice has evolved. Once my application was approved, I hustled through the final stretch, purchasing study materials and immersing myself in an intensive three-day study session at my kitchen table, which ultimately led to my successful completion of the exam.

For me, earning the CCMP has been a significant milestone in my professional journey. I set this goal over three years ago and dedicated countless hours to preparing my application and studying for the exam. Achieving this certification not only represents the culmination of that effort but also reinforces (and formalizes) my commitment to continuous growth and professional development in change management, advancing both my practice and the field.

Why did you decide to pursue the CCMP?

I have been involved in project implementation and undertaking change management activities but was not aware that change management was a career path. I became conversant with change management when I got in contact with an independent consultant engaged to support the development of a policy. So, check on the opportunities and decided to become a change management professional.

How did you prepare for the CCMP?

I studied the standard 13 times and listened to several YouTube videos. Most importantly I attended Springboard Consulting's Ready Set CCMP Prep and that was the most important aspect of my preparation because it allowed me to be tutored and mentored by one of the world's best change management gurus, April Callis Birchmeier. I practiced the questions provided by her and also got some on Udemy at least five times for search sets.

I feel confident talking about change management and providing guidance when necessary.

Why did you decide to pursue the CCMP?

I chose to pursue my CCMP certification to gain professional certification and knowledge that supported my 25+ year career in the U.S. Army. The Army is constantly changing and by leveraging the standard for change management coupled with environment I could deliver better results for my organization.

I selected to attend my boot camp with JTask as I had a great conversation with Roger Watson. My good friend at Lean Alaska is establishing a Change Management course as well and I recommend looking there too. I started intentionally studying 1-2 hrs a day 5 weeks pre-exam.
