New Directors Bring Global Perspectives to the Future of Change Management

Washington, DC – The Association of Change Management Professionals^® (ACMP^®) is pleased to announce its 2026–2027 Global Board of Directors following the completion of the organization's recent Board election process. The newly constituted Board will officially begin its term on September 1, 2026.

The 2026–2027 Board reflects ACMP's continued commitment to serving the global change management profession, with eight of its eleven Board members residing outside the United States, making it the most internationally representative Board in ACMP's history.

Seven of the incoming Board members hold ACMP's professional certifications. The Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP^®) credential recognizes experienced professionals who have demonstrated competency in applying the ACMP Standard for Change Management, while the Master Certified Change Management Professional (MCMP™) designation recognizes distinguished leaders who have demonstrated advanced expertise and significant contributions to the profession.

Washington, DC – The Association of Change Management Professionals^® (ACMP^®) is pleased to announce that Malcolm Gabriel, PhD, MBA has been named the recipient of the 2026 ACMP Academic Research Award in recognition of his outstanding research paper, The Challenges Faced by Middle Managers in Leading Transformational Change in Large Organizations in the U.S., and How These Can Be Effectively Addressed.

Gabriel's research shines a spotlight on one of the most critical groups in organizational transformation: middle managers. Through qualitative interviews with middle managers from large U.S. organizations, the study explores the barriers they face in leading transformational change, including role conflict, change fatigue, organizational ambiguity, and inconsistent leadership support. The findings also identify the strategies middle managers use to navigate these challenges, emphasizing the importance of trust, empathy, sensemaking, and leadership enablement in driving successful change outcomes.

"Malcolm's research addresses a meaningful [AB2.1]gap in both academic literature and organizational practice," said Alan Bostakian, MCMP™, ACMP’s Director of the Profession. "As Malcolm’s research indicates, middle managers play a vital role in translating strategy into action globally. He currently serves as Director, Enterprise Culture & Recognition at Indiana University Health and has spent decades helping organizations navigate complex transformation efforts.

As part of this recognition, Gabriel will present his award-winning research during Change Management Global Connect 2026, ACMP's premier virtual event, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 9am ET. Nominations are open from May 25 through July 3, 2026, inviting submissions from across industries and geographies. The awards celebrate excellence in five categories: Change Management Organization of the Year, Change for Good Award, ACMP Volunteer of the Year, Best Change Campaign Award, and Trailblazer in Change Management Award.

Grounded in the ACMP Standard for Change Management, submissions will be evaluated through a rigorous, evidence-based review process by a global panel of experienced practitioners. Finalists will be[DN1.1][KE1.2] announced on August 24, with winners revealed through a digital recognition campaign from September 14–18, 2026, featuring one award announced each day.

This prestigious award underscores ACMP’s commitment to strengthening the profession through evidence-based insights and elevating the next generation of thought leaders.

The ACMP Academic Research Award honors an individual or group whose master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation demonstrates scientifically valid findings, introduces innovative ideas, and delivers practical value for change management practitioners. The recipient will receive a $750 award, complimentary registration to Change Management Global Connect 2026 (July 28–30), and the opportunity to present their research to this global audience of professionals, academics, and industry leaders. Their work will also be featured across ACMP’s communication channels, amplifying its impact across the global change community.
