How to be Mindful About Your Career Growth

One of the areas the change management community continues to explore is the notion of mindfulness in change management. Whether you are new to change management, or have dedicated your professional career to this industry, it’s always important to take a step back and think about being deliberate in ways to achieve your goals. This month, ACMP is being particularly mindful about its educational offerings and how the Certified Change Management Professional™ (CCMP™) program is an integral part of that. Read more about how ACMP can help grow your career and actions you can take.

Demonstrate Your Leadership in the Industry by Becoming Certified

When launching the CCMP certification just over a year ago, ACMP demonstrated its commitment to serving as an independent and trusted source of professional excellence. You, too, can do this by becoming CCMP Certified and showing the industry that you are one of the First 500 to ever hold this designation. The current exam window closes on July 30th. To prepare for the exam, download The Standard for Change Management®, study these flash cards, review the ACMP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, and join us on one of our upcoming coaching calls. You may take the exam from nearly anywhere in the world at any time at one of these exam centers.

Enroll in Change Management Courses to Continue Learning

ACMP has been very deliberate in identifying courses that align to The Standard for Change Management® and adult education best practices. By enrolling in one of the courses listed in the Qualified Education Provider™ Registry, you can rest assured that you will receive a top-notch education from credible providers.

Stay Current on Research

This month, ACMP is expanding its offerings by hosting TWO webinars for members. This growing calendar of educational offerings was developed by change leaders like you and topics were chosen based on needs identified through member surveys. Webinars are a great way to stay current with industry research and to earn professional development units towards the maintenance of your CCMP.

The July webinars are:

As a reminder, these webinars are a member benefit so if you are not already a member, join today! If you are a member, you can access these and past webinars on the ACMP Resource Library.

You can also purchase videos from Change Management 2017 to hear from dozens of industry leaders.

Go Back to the Basics and Re-Read Foundational Elements

We all have our “go-to books” for inspiration. ACMP is proud to have formulated the first legally defensible, globally accepted Standard for Change Management©.

If you have not read it, you can download it here.

If you have read it, go back to it and see if you can find a nugget to re-inspire you and reinvigorate your current work.

Share Your Insights and Grow Your Network

As change leaders, we know that the ultimate goal of behavior change is to achieve ownership and be able to share with others what we know. If you are CCMP certified, think about ways you can showcase the credential on your resume, social media profiles and bios. Don’t forget to mention that you are a part of the First 500! If you and your organization are leading the way change works by training individuals or organizations, apply to become a Qualified Education Provider to demonstrate your ongoing commitment and grow your network as well.

Learn from Colleagues

CCMP graduates are leading the way change works and want to inspire you to join them! This month’s featured graduate is Susan Faulkner, President of E4 Business Solutions Inc.

Why did you decide to pursue the CCMP?
I have been watching the evolution of Change Management as a profession for several years. When CCMP was announced, I was excited and proud to be an early adopter of something I have been passionate about for the bulk of my career.

Tell us your CCMP story. How has earning the CCMP benefited you personally and professionally?

I have considered myself a Change Management practitioner before formal standards and methodology were widely known. As a project manager, I knew that managing the people side of change was critical to a project's success. My favorite Change Management book is William Bridges - Managing Transition. I used this book back in 2004 as the basis for helping my then employer develop a workshop, Leading White Water Change, to help employees through a challenging time of multiple change initiatives in the organization. I continued to monitor the evolution of the Change Management profession and focused on ensuring Change Management was integrated into my projects. In 2012 I was contracted as a Change Manager for a large scale project. This was the first project I was involved in where Change Management was given such high profile by dedicating a leadership resource, rather than just tasks on a project plan. For me, obtaining the CCMP designation demonstrates my ongoing commitment to the profession I feel so passionate about.
