ACMP® NEWS
ACMP Annual Member Business Meeting

You're invited to ACMP's Annual Member Business Meeting on Thursday, November 14. It happens every year, maybe you even attended, or perhaps you're new to ACMP, but if you're wondering why you should attend this meeting - we are here to tell you!

Why do we have an Annual Member Business Meeting?

ACMP is a professional association here to serve YOU and other change practitioners from all over the world. Throughout the year, our board, volunteers, and staff members are hard at work to serve as a trusted resource for education and leadership, as well as supporting and growing a connected change community. This meeting is our opportunity to share with all our members how we've succeeded, where we need change, and where ACMP is headed in the future.

What happens at the Annual Member Business Meeting?

The meeting is an hour long and during that time we will discuss the financial health of ACMP, the progress with our strategic plan, as well as the different programs within ACMP. There is also time to take questions from you, our members.

Why should you attend the Annual Member Business Meeting?

Holding a meeting like this with our members is one of the most important things that we do. We want to fully disclose ourselves and be upfront with our members while reviewing our accomplishment and lessons learned. You made the commitment to be a part of ACMP, so come help us lead the way change works!

There are two times available to attend the upcoming meeting: November 14 at 8:00 a.m. ET or November 14 at 5:00 p.m. ET. The ACMP Annual Member Business Meeting is open to all ACMP members in good standing. Interested in becoming a member? Join today.

ACMP Bylaws

In keeping with good governance practices, ACMP has undergone a full review of our ACMP bylaws. Bylaws serve an association in three distinct ways:

  1. They determine how an association is structured. Specifically, they tell the board how the governance of the association is intended to be structured.
  2. Bylaws - along with state laws - determine the rights of member participants in the structure.
  3. Bylaws determine many procedures by which rights can be exercised.

Our ACMP global bylaws were slightly revised in 2017; however, with the addition of our new Executive Director, the time was right to do a comprehensive bylaw review, which included a legal review for compliance. Your ACMP Board heavily vetted and reviewed this core governance document and now we are sharing the final version with you for full transparency. If you have any questions about our bylaws, you can contact Adrienne Fierro, Executive Director of ACMP.

ACMP Strategy Update

ACMP is excited to share how we are moving forward with our goal to advance the discipline, which focuses on supporting the application of the Standard for Change Management© in today's emerging organizational and business contexts. As part of this goal, we are:

  • Looking at the relevancy of the Standard© in various contexts;
  • Identifying potential areas for refresh; and,
  • Developing Standard Application Guides to support change practitioners in applying the Standard.

The Standard Evolution Working Group (SEWG) has launched and will drive these tasks. The Group is comprised of advanced practitioners and thought leaders; Qualified Education Providers™ (QEPs™); alumni of the Standard Working Group that developed the Standard; and a cross-section of ACMP members. The interest and enthusiasm from those who have joined SEWG is strong, and they are off to a great start - stay tuned!

ACMP Volunteer Spotlight: Wes Ven Johnson

ACMP is thriving because of our volunteers! Every month, we feature an ACMP volunteer nominated by their peers and anonymously selected by our Volunteer Engagement Committee.

This month, we celebrate Wes Ven Johnson! Wes is co-chair of the ACMP Membership Committee. As a valuable leader of this committee, Wes led the efforts to plan and launch the New Member Orientation webinars!

"I volunteer because I believe in service to others. If I give a little bit of extra time to an organization or a cause that needs it, then I made the world just a tiny bit better; and that makes me feel good. But volunteering at ACMP feels more like working on a hobby with friends. We are all there because we love our profession and our organization, and that makes the experience so much more rewarding."
