What is the value of volunteering for you?
In general, I volunteer because I believe in service to others. If I give a little bit of extra time to an organization or cause that needs it, then I made the world just a tiny bit better; and that makes me feel good. But volunteering for the ACMP feels more like working on a hobby with friends. We are all there because we love our profession and our organization, and that makes the experience so much more rewarding.
What do you like about being a part of ACMP?
I remember the first ACMP event I went to. I immediately knew I had found my people, my tribe. I had been a change professional for years, but I had not been putting much energy or time into it. I wasn't advocating for my discipline or growing the change community, which means that I wasn't getting much back out of it, other than a paycheck. ACMP has changed all that for me. The Beatles said, "And the end the love you take is equal to the love you make." You get what you give, and this has been wonderfully true for my ACMP experience these past few years.
