3 Steps to Becoming a CCMP

A little over a month into a new year, and those goals you set for yourself may seem slightly daunting. When meeting a new challenge, we all sometimes struggle with where to begin and wondering if we will ever get there. Fortunately, ACMP is here for YOU. We want you to achieve those goals and become a Certified Change Management Professional™!

  1. Determine Your Eligibility. Beginning with clarifying whether you qualify for the CCMP™ is the best place to start. If you are eligible, that's fantastic and you can move on to step two. If you're not, that's okay - all it means is that you have an extra step in order to achieve eligibility.

What are the eligibility requirements? The first requirement is related to your education and experience. CCMP candidates are required to have a 4-year degree (or international equivalent) and 4200 hours (typically, 3 years) of change management experience OR secondary education (high school or international equivalent) and 7000 hours (typically, 5 years) of change management experience.

The second requirement is related to training. You mush have completed 21 hours of instructor-led change management training in the past 7 years. The ACMP QEP Registry provides a listing of course that align to The Standard for Change Management©.
  2. Complete the Online Application & Essay Questions. The CCMP application requires that you enter your education and training, as discussed in step one. Additionally, you are required to answer 3 out of 5 questions with a maximum of 500 words each. We have several helpful tools to help you through the application and essay process. Once your application is completed, it will be submitted for review.
  3. Schedule and Prepare for the Exam. After your application is approved, you'll be able to schedule your exam. The current exam window is open until June 1, 2019. The exam includes 150 multiple-choice questions based on the Standard and ACMP's Code of Ethics.

To help you successfully pass your exam, we have created useful tools to help you prepare, such as a preparation guide and flash cards.

The best way to approach the unknown is with knowledge. Be sure to download the CCMP Candidate Handbook and reach out to Alissa if you have any questions.

CCMP graduates are changing the conversation and we invite you to join them! Learn from other CCMP graduates here.

This month's featured graduate is Beth Lowe, CCMP™, Analyst - Enterprise Change Management with State Farm Insurance.

Why did you decide to pursue the CCMP?

I wanted to add a change management related professional credential to my certifications. I also wanted to blaze the path for my colleagues within my organization, since I'm the first person at my company to earn the CCMP.
