Title: Driving Results, MacGyver-style

Organization’s often feel that change is done to them. Change becomes equated with policy, budget, or structure (reorganization). However, successful change stems from leveraging dissatisfaction to motivate and uncover a shared vision to mobilize change. A vision, which can be developed from evaluating people, processes, and technology to not only respond and adapt to change, yet proactively seek opportunities to evolve. The role of the change practitioner is not always a formal title, nor is it the person in charge – being a change leader, means inspiring change across the organization to drive results. These results, the outcome of creative problem solving to either translate directives to work for the organization or to establish a need by questioning conventional approaches and seeking ideas to design, modify, and continuously improve capabilities to evolve. This webinar will provide critical success factors to empower practitioners to drive change from any level of the organization.  

Skill Level: Beginner (0-3 Years of Change Management Experience)

Bio:

Val Ruark is an organizational change management subject matter expert at REI Systems where she is currently shaping how government is utilizing change strategies to drive IT policy and modernization government-wide. In past, she was a senior advisor at NASA Goddard where she worked across respective organizations to influence change. Val and her teams have received Federal, Agency, and civic honors for exceptional achievements in leadership, quality and process improvement, engineering, and mission support. Val’s optimism and passion to problem solve, stems from her love of a good Tom Clancy novel, which not only honors the underdog yet the patriotism and determination to see a task well done.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss how to form strategic coalitions across functions and how to utilize those relationships to build a crosscutting team of resources to motivate, inspire, and drive change.
  • Analyze the toolkit of capabilities to identify, define, implement, and refine change.
  • Recognize and interpret the competencies required for chartering and leading without authority to achieve successful, sustaining change.
