Title: Leading change through appreciative inquiry and positive psychology

Participants will learn about AI and Positive Psychology, and the neuro science behind positivity and why it is important for collaboration and design thinking. Through a real world example, participants will learn how to utilize AI and PP as a way to inspire and engage individuals to co-create change. Participants will be exposed to AI theories from Ronald Fry, PhD and Martin Seligman, Phd of Case Western Reserve University and University of Pennsylvania, respectively.


Denise Downs is a highly skilled and accomplished OD and Change Management Director and Consultant. She has worked with major companies including the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the MTA, MetLife, The Girl Scouts of America, The New York Times, and Weight Watchers International. Denise has spearheaded many organizational change initiatives beginning with a detailed organizational diagnosis to identified risks and opportunities. She uses her diagnoses to recognize appropriate organizational interventions that include policies and procedures changes, process improvements, restructures, training and development, technology enhancements, and more. She facilitates cross-functional meetings with all stakeholders to build consensus and support for shared goals. Her strategy is to make change permanent by using post-implementation goal setting, performance metrics, data collection and analysis. This approach allows for a proactive versus reactive response to risks and opportunities, and serves as a baseline for continuous quality improvement. Denise earned Certifications from the University of Pennsylvania in Positive Psychology and Columbia University in Conflict Resolution, and earned an MA in Social Organization Psychology from Columbia University and a Master of Science in Human Resources and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Marketing from the New York Institute of Technology.
